The function of the Prevailing Wage Rate Commission was to determine competitive wages for employees on all state funded construction projects. This series consists of correspondence, memoranda, minutes, reports, studies, case files, legislative acts, and forms containing prevailing wage rate determinations. In addition to the commission's main task of determining wages, the records document complaints regarding unfair wages and other activities. The bulk of the records were maintained by Alabama Dept. of Labor commissioners Howard E. Hendrix and Claude R. (Mike) Morgan, Jr.
